Happy, happy Wednesday!! Today I thought I'd share just a few pictures from our little anniversary trip to Lake Tahoe! We had the BEST time celebrating 8 years, and I thought I'd share just a few snapshots and memories this morning from our time away.
When we were first talking about our anniversary this year, my parents graciously offered to be with Jane and Andy, and we started brainstorming a few different destinations that we could make it to for a few days. And somehow Lake Tahoe is where we kept coming back to.
We knew it might be cold come late October, but we took a chance, bought our tickets, found a place to stay, and loved seeing it on our calendar for the few weeks leading up to it.
And my, what a favorite trip it was for us!!! Here's a few snapshots from our time out west!
We landed in Reno on Sunday morning and sent a pic to the kids!
We grabbed our car, grabbed some lunch, and took the scenic drive to Lake Tahoe!
And goodness, it sure was beautiful!!! We had to take a few snow pics...
And then a few fall pics... It was just so pretty the entire way!!
We stopped at a few lookout points on our way to our cabin...
And sheesh, they were just beautiful!!!
We made our way to this precious little cabin that we called ours that week. And we loved that we happened to be in #9 starting this ninth year of marriage...
The inside was cozy and quaint, and we love a place where we can cook a little of our own food, so it was perfect for the week!
And the best part was...
We were steps away from this beautiful lake/beach view.
Just so beautiful!
We snapped a picture, facetimed the kids, and headed out for dinner that night in town.
The next morning, we had a bit of a slow morning and then headed back into town and visited the local bike shop, where we rented ebikes for the day... We sent this picture to the kids...
And let me tell you...we had so much fun!
We stopped in a the local coffee shop, which was truly one of our favorite places we visited the whole time we were there.
The best little lattes! They had a Golden Milk latte, which I love, and then the next day I tried their "Hazy Pear," which I wish I could have bottled up and taken home!
Just such a cute place!
Cuppa Tahoe, we hope to be back one day!
We hopped back on our bikes...
And made our way through some crazy fun trails...
This tree was just too fun not to stop for! Jane told me later, "When Nana first showed me this picture, I didn't even see you guys!!!" Hahaha
We stopped for a little hike down to a creek to look for some salmon that are usually swimming that time of year, but apparently the water levels have been so low and they weren't there quite yet...
But goodness, 20 miles felt easy (and fun!) on those little ebikes!
We stopped to take in a few beautiful views...
And just loved every minute of that fun day with Pierce!!
We shopped a little around town afterwards, grabbed some groceries, and cooked dinner that night while we watched the sun set over the lake. Just such a fun day and one for the books for sure!
The next morning, we made our way back into town for...
Our favorite coffee shop lattes 😂 We grabbed a little snack for the road and two little gifts for the kids as well.
Then made our way to a second little hike where some locals said the salmon might be that morning...
We didn't see any salmon...
But the beach views were just truly beautiful!!
Later that day, we had to make our way over (and up) to Emerald Bay to see the views from Inspiration Point.
And goodness, they were amazing!!
There was a little "tea house" back in the day on that little island in the middle, which you know I loved learning about 😉
We got in one last hike that night before the sun set... These were supposed to be falls, but with the water so low, they were very dry, but still so pretty!
It was a chilly one!
And a stair-filled one!
But the views were amazing!!!
A fun way to end that night before dinner!!
We got to sit upstairs by the fire for the sunset before dinner, and it was such a fun way to reflect back on these past 8 years years... We had the best dinner down below at what has always been known as "Jimmy's," but recently changed its name to "The Lakeside Landing," and it was definitely some of the best food we had all week! We loved it.
The next morning, we made it out to the lake for sunrise, which might have been even better than the sunset...
Then we packed up and said goodbye to that sweet little cabin and the beautiful Lake Tahoe. We made our way back to Louisville then to Nashville the next morning...
But those few days were so special and fun, and we loved visiting, exploring, and seeing such a beautiful place!!
Lake Tahoe, thanks for helping us celebrate 8 years since that sweet October 27th, 2018!!
And a special thanks to my mom and dad for helping make it happen by watching the kiddos! I'm not sure who had more fun that week honestly 😉 Thanks as always for following along and here's to another year of marriage with another little one on the way!! What a gift it is to enjoy the little things, celebrate the big things, and soak in all of these moments in-between!!
Sending lots of love!
I'l plan on seeing you back here tomorrow!
