Hi, friends!!! Happy Wednesday! Happy SEPTEMBER!!! How is it possible to already be in September in 2025?! This year seems to be flying by. September is a sweet blend of my mind of the changing of the seasons - going from the warmth of summer to the cool of fall, and I really do love it! This year, this month holds so many different things, so I thought I would just do a little random assortment of all things September as we welcome this month in!
September, October, and November are always filled to the brim (December too, but it almost feels like it's in its own Christmas category in my mind), and this year I am trying hard to plan small and wisely, while trying hard not to get overwhelmed by the sheer number of "to-dos" in the season. I'm trying to soak in the smells and the little moments, being present in the long days and basking in the days that just feel fun. So, here are just some random September little thoughts!
Things we're excited about that this month holds:
FOOTBALL
We love football season over here and from our very forever favorite Buccaneers, to our home roots of the Titans, and Pierce's hometown Cowboys, plus a handful a players we have come to love and cheer on, Thursday nights, Sundays and Monday night games are just fun little treats we love to watch when we can!
Survivor and Amazing Race ("Pizza and a show")
Well, these two little shows have just about stood the test of time over here... We've taken seasons off here and there, but our little tradition of having pizza on Survivor nights has continued, and we are so looking forward to it!
Making our Fall Family Bucket List
Our Summer of Letter Fun was just SO fun to have throughout this season, so we're excited to hopefully put together a fall one too this season!
Small Group starting back up.
We started our small group in January 2020 (of course not knowing at all what that year would hold, and it has been through many different seasons, but we are excited to kick it back off this weekend! We meet twice a month at our house, and that rhythm has just felt so sustainable to us throughout the years and many changes we have gone through as well!
Potentially meeting our TWO newest nephews!!
Oh, this one is just SO sweet. 💙💙💙 Pierce's sister Kelsea had her little boy just two weeks ago and my sister is due any day, so we are itching to hold these precious little BOYS soon!!!
Routines that have been working really well:
Pilates
Well, this one has been a harder one at times to figure out since Andy came along. Some routines I'm realizing just get more complicated the more people we add to our family 😉 But we finally figured out two early mornings a week for me to go to Pilates, while Pierce takes the monitor and works out in the garage, and they have really become some of my favorite mornings. Who knew a 10 minute drive by yourself in the car at 5:45am could be such a luxury? Hahaha
Tutoring
Tutoring has been a part of our life since before we were married, and although we have walked through many, many different seasons, tutoring on Mondays has almost always been a part of our days. I used to have many more students, tutor many more days, and always be trying to open more spots, but when Jane was about six months old, I started realizing that tutoring well into dinnertime and bedtime most nights of the week just wasn't going to work long term... So, I slowly started cutting back and although two days a week seemed semi-doable, when we had Andy and Pierce switched jobs and started traveling a little more, we made it only on Mondays with just a few students that I have had for years, and it's a favorite little Monday afternoon routine for sure. Two of the sisters I still tutor are now juniors and seniors and I started with them when they were in 4th and 5th grade, so it's been a special little month of September picking back up and finishing out their schooling with hopefully a deep love for math that they will take with them.
Routines and rhythms that I'm still trying to sort out:
After preschool days
Well, these afternoons have been a work-in-progress for the past few weeks, and I am still trying to sort out what will work best... Welcoming any and all tips for the after school life for littles!!
Blogging
I love blogging so, so much, and I have come to love this little space and the friends and connections it has led to. But I have also come to realize that with each change of season, my capacity and time changes a little too, so I'm trying to figure out what this fall will hold for all the posts I have in my head and in my photo albums.
Random Little September Things:
The cooler weather.
I know this is an all-around favorite, but there is just something about that fall breeze and air that is just hard. to. beat. and I am soo looking forward to it!!
Recipes.
I feel like fall recipes are just fun. From apples to pumpkins to soups and breads, we are looking forward to having them all and experimenting with some new ones too!
A Fall candle.
And lastly, a fall candle. Our house is just a more "natural" home in many areas, and one of the hardest is trying to find candles that are clean, but still smell amazing and burn well. I texted from friends recently for any good recommendations, and this one was a winner for everyone's favorite. It was mine last year too, and I'm hoping she brings them back this fall. If anyone has any good natural fall candles that they love though, please send them my way!!!
And really, that about does it for just a few random September thoughts. I love this "middle-child-esque" month that leads us from summer to fall!!! I hope everyone has had the very best start to the month!!! I'll plan on seeing you back here tomorrow!!
Sending lots of love and Happy September!!!!
