Life Lately [5.18.21]

Life around here has been fun and full and busy! We are counting down till summer while finishing school and celebrating birthdays and enjoying the longer days of sunshine!!

Here's a little of what we've been up to at the Riddick house lately...
First off, garden planting... I redid our garden boxes the summer after we got married, and we started small with a few pepper plants. They did so well, that last year we added several more vegetables to our garden, and they all started doing so well!
So, this year, Pierce's main request for his birthday was to plant our garden, with some fun new additions! It poured all day on his birthday, so we shopped for plants a few days later and tried to beat daylight one night by trying to finish planting before the sun went down...we didn't beat the sun, but we did get the start of our garden going! We'll keep you all updated with what turns out this year!
Speaking of peppers...this has been one of our very favorite meals recently...homemade fajitas! Grilled peppers with grilled chicken...you really can't go wrong!
My parents' house in Kentucky is one of our favorite places to visit. We hung out with Audge for a weekend while Mom and Dad were at the beach. We sat by the pool, enjoyed a few movie nights, watched The Derby and just soaked in an early summer weekend in May.
The azaleas were so pretty this year! It might just be one of my favorite times of the year... πŸŒΈπŸŒΊ
Small group cookout nights also might just be one of my favorite kind of nights as well...

The Coffee Cart came to school one Friday morning to get us through the final stretch...such a fun treat! We are in the final days over here now!
For our two and a half years and an early birthday celebration, Pierce planned such a fun date night one school night for us...Painting with a Twist.
Pierce signed us up and surprised me with it. We walked in and found it all set-up and ready. You could bring your own drinks and snacks to have along while you were painting.
An artist walks you through each step of the painting....so nervous at the beginning πŸ˜‚
It started coming along....
And for the most part, we were happy with how they turned out! We panicked and didn't add any foreground grass, so it's pretty 2-dimensional...but for inside of our coat closet, they will be great!! πŸ˜‚
Such a fun place and such a fun date!!
We ended the night with a fun stop at a cute little Nashville place...The Milkshake Bar!
Such a sweet night that I think we'll always remember!
On May 9th, we celebrated the one and only Pierce Riddick. It was so fun to decorate for Sunday morning and surprise him with a little gift when he woke up.
He requested Puppy Chow for his birthday, so we made the most of it and celebrated that afternoon with his birthday snack.
It was pouring for seriously the whole day, so we stayed in, watched movies and just enjoyed a rainy birthday day. We knew we'd go out to dinner in the middle of the week for my birthday, so we just enjoyed a night at home.
We ended the day with our favorite homemade cauliflower BBQ chicken pizza...such a treat!
Then three days later, we had another birthday on our hands, and Pierce made the day so special, from beginning to end. From surprising me with lunch at school, to a fun dinner out, it was definitely a sweet day to remember!
He's been taking care of our back patio this spring, with power-washing and all!
We feel so blessed for this little slice of heaven! And love these early summer nights out here!
From one slice of heaven to another...my parents fire-pit in Kentucky. We finished out our weekend of birthday celebrations in Louisville... We could just be out here for hours...
We roasted hotdogs, made s'mores and caught up around the fire...Audrey made a chocolate cake for Pierce and the cutest teacher cookies for my birthday and we just enjoyed every minute of the weekend. it was a little taste of summer, and we can't wait for the real thing!!

That's just a little bit of what our crazy May has looked like. We love this month for so many reasons, but it's always full to the brim, so it's good to take a step back and reflect on all that's going on! Thanks for following along in our little journey. We are so grateful!

We'll post more soon!
Love y'all!
Tab and Pierce
