Life Lately and Riddicks Beach Bound! [6.20.21]

Well, we have been full on in summer-mode over here at the Riddick house and have been loving every minute. I'm still tutoring and Pierce is still working from home, but we've found some time to enjoy the little moments and celebrate the big ones too. Here is a little of our life lately and what we've been up to...

One of my favorite parts about summer is having more time in the morning to read. I read on school mornings, but when you have to be at school at 7:30am, including getting ready, eating breakfast, lunch packed, and the 30 minute drive, morning's seem to go pretty quickly...even working out at 5:30 doesn't seem to give my morning's enough minutes. So needless to say, summer is amazing for reading and studying. I try to pick a book every summer to study and dive in to. Last year I studied Ruth and Esther with a few girls and loved everything I learned! And this year, we decided to stay with the book we're memorizing this year and we're both studying Philippians. We couldn't love Warren Wirsbe's studies more...this may be my 10th or 11th and truly, I could rave about him all day. He makes reading and studying so simple, yet impactful. He makes me feel like I'm in seminary, while also applying the Scripture to my life in the same sentence. He's incredible and I can't recommend him enough...so that's where it seems a lot of my mornings go these days... ❤️

Another one of our favorite parts of summer is going to Louisville. My parents have an amazing backyard and patio that sometimes feels like it's something out of a dream. We could spend hours by this pool in the afternoon, sit on this patio for every dinner and spend every morning on their front porch if we could. It's always a sweet place to get away and we love the quality time with family as well!

This trip we snuck in a little coffee date to one of Pierce's most favorite coffee places in Louisville. He sometimes even has their whole beans delivered to our house...and they always truly smell amazing! 

Pierce's granddad also lives in Louisville, so we loved being able to visit with him this trip! Him and his wife took us out to eat and we just sat in their living room and caught up on their lives and ours. It was truly such a sweet time and we always treasure our visits with them!

Afterward, Pierce and I stopped by the cutest hometown nursery, and ice-cream cones in the summer are truly my weakness, so...

...we had to get one! 😂🍦

We even made it out to eat with the whole family for the weekend!

It was such a great weekend getaway, and we can't wait to go back! 

Around Nashville, we've just been soaking up and making the most of all of our days! I snapped this on the way to church one morning...I'm not sure we will ever take worshipping together for granted again...we just love the blessing of that so much these days ❤️

Our classic after-church pic...don't ask Pierce how many we have of these...he will sigh and say this is why we don't have any iCloud storage 😂 hahaha but hey, he had a few months of virtual services...so...I have to make up for lost days haha 

We've been our snacks these days...trust me when I say, I could probably live off of just snacks haha and Pierce said, "Amen." hahaha But it's fun that we can enjoy little afternoon snacks together these days! 

Pierce is usually the one honestly to whip up amazing dinners, usually out of thin air it seems! This is a favorite of ours these days still...grilled peppers, onions, chicken and homemade Mexican rice...yum!

And...as crazy as it sounds...another favorite of ours currently. We found the best all-natural beef hotdogs at Trader Joes and we grilled them over the fire at my parent's house one night and have been hooked ever since. Pierce has grilled them on our grill a time or two, and they're one of my favorite guilty pleasures currently haha! We get Berlin Bakery spelt hotdog buns and are loving those new Late July chips...mmmm...it just feels like summer! Haha 

But we always make up for it with lots of fresh summer salads! Yum! It's always so fun when we can start making them with things in our garden! I'll have to do a garden update soon! Lots of things growing!! 

We've been clearing out some trees and Pierce has been doing such a good job at killing the weeds in our yard this year...it's always a work-in-progress but fun when we get to spend Saturday working on our little home. 

Then, before we knew it...this is what our life lately looked a lot like...Pierce rolled his ankle one evening this past week and it was terrible! 

It immediately started swelling and didn't seemed to stop for a while....Pierce did such a good job at icing it and keeping it elevated, and we watched a lot of Amazing Race at night haha We were planning on leaving for our trip on Sunday, and honestly weren't sure if we were going to be able to go. 

But Pierce has been a champ in taking care of it, even these ice buckets haha and it has gone down so much. He's able to walk on it enough to travel and we are praying it continues to heal. It has a pretty intense bruise on it currently, but the swelling has gone down so much. We are thankful for all of the prayers and for the quick healing for sure!!! 

While Pierce was healing his ankle, I grabbed some new earrings...

And these two Riddicks are off to an all-inclusive for the week!! We always dreamed of a Europe trip this summer, but are excited for new plans and a week on the beach. We are also thankful for the Lord's timing of a beach trip with Pierce's ankle instead of a Europe excursion...His timing always seems to be perfect. 🙏🏼 We'll be back next weekend, and I can't wait to update you on our trip!! 🌴☀️⛵️
