Friday Favorites - New Adventures, Outside Play, and Slow Mornings with Littles

Happy, happy Friday!!! We have a fun and busy weekend ahead and are just loving these sweet October days. Pierce was on a work trip this week, so it was just me and the kids, and we made the most of our days! We tried to fill them with new adventures and lots of crafts (is anyone surprised haha) and sweet friends, but my are we glad to have Daddy back! Here are just a few simple joys and little favorites from our week!! I hope you are finding them in your week as well!! Here are a few of ours for your Friday! 

At some point last year when Pierce started traveling more for work, we talked about how the kids were sad he was leaving again, and I had heard another mom talk about how sometimes she would take the kids to the "toy store" and let them pick out a toy - it was an adventure they looked forward to, it made it special, and they could play with that toy while their husband was away. So, we made it an outing one evening last summer, and although we definitely don't do it every time he's gone, it sure makes it special when we do. 

A friend heard Pierce was going to be out of town and asked if we wanted to try a new-to-us toy store out with some friends, so we made a morning out of it and goodness, it was the sweetest toy shop. Jane wanted to "look nice" for the adventure, so she picked out her outfit and then landed on a "letter craft." She had these when she was very little, but seemed SO excited about it... 

That Andy followed suit and got a little Pete the Cat one... 

And those little toys have paid dividends this week hahaha I highly recommend a toy store trip for sure! 

We also tried out a new to us library, and this little one was in heaven. 

It was a sweet morning and another adventure that the kids are still talking about!! 

We took a trip to Hobby Lobby this week and have begun the costume journey this year haha it's a favorite for Jane, and honestly, for me too. The kids have been very excited!! Any guesses?! 😉🍄👑

Outside time is FOREVER a favorite. 

And outside time in the fall is just the best. 

And lastly, just these little days at home... I know they won't last forever, so I'm trying hard to soak them up in the here and now. Magnatiles are a big time favorite in our house right now. 

As is reading...we will find this kid anywhere and everywhere with a book hahaha 

Andy's current favorite thing is to get his "guitar" grab this same pillow from the couch, and sit down to sing "Do Re Me." We have tried to catch it on video a time or two because truly, it is ALL of our favorite thing hahaha 

Crafts, crafts, and more crafts 😉 

But, it just feels like it fits this season perfectly somehow. These mornings may be full and filled with lots of "why" questions from a two year old, lots of craft requests from a four year old, lots of toys and books and paper, but goodness, I am always thankful for a perspective of enjoying the little things that the Lord has given. And these mornings are sure one of them! They are far from perfect, but they are gift, and I'm grateful for them. 

And that about does it for a few Friday Favorites around here for us... We have a special and fun afternoon planned with Jane tomorrow, a birthday party, and our small group on Sunday too, so I will plan to see you back here next week.
