Frame This Moment - Painting Butterfly Wings 🎨

Happy Frame This Moment Day x2! I shared little Andy in Daddy's office here, and I couldn't not share little Jane in her element as well. This little moment was a long time coming... 

Several weeks ago, we came across a little brother sister duo dressed as the beautiful butterfly and the hungry caterpillar, and Jane was hooked. She was SO excited to be the butterfly, and I can't even tell you how many times she asked me if she could "paint her butterfly wings." 

We went to Hobby Lobby, picked out paint colors and poster board and penciled in a design and cut out the wings, and this girls' dream was finally coming true. 

And it was the sweetest to watch... 

I strapped Andy to my back and helped her with some of the big patches and colors, but this girl is an artist through and through, and this "project" to her was an absolute favorite. 

She worked so hard, and I just had to keep stopping and remind myself that this. is where the sweetness is found. It's not a "task" or a "checklist," it's where life and memories and fun and the sweetness of these days are made. She LOVED it, and I don't know if the rest of the costume will "come together" in the "perfect" way, but I know she will ALWAYS remember painting these wings, and I wanted to be right there enjoying it just as much. 

Little Jane, I hope you always lean into your creative and artistic ability. It's so sweet to see glimpses and snapshots of how the Lord made you!

What a fun and sweet little project that we both just loved so much. When we were cooking dinner that night, she asked if she could write a "note" to say thank you for painting with her. I had to smile, knowing it really did mean as much to her as I was thinking it did, and also as I thought of the "thank yous" I had as well - mainly to the Lord for little moments like this and the ability to slow down and enjoy them and to Jane for showing me the sweetness and fun that comes with creative projects instead of simply checking off a task of the day. I am thankful, and I know I will always treasure this little moment and day of painting butterfly wings.
