Happy Wednesday!!! I hope everyone is having a sweet week before Christmas!! I wish I could invite everyone over for some tea and "peppermint drink" by the fire this week as we soaked up this cozy season, but I thought sharing some pictures of our home would be the next best thing...
I love this time of year so much, especially the way Christmas inspires a space. The lights, the fire, the coziness, the smells, the way it feels to be warm and snuggled under a blanket as it gets so dark so early... But I have noticed when we bring Christmas out, a lot gets added to our rooms and when you add in two kids and a lot of just, well, everything that comes along with that, the visual noise can be a lot. So this year, we really tried to simplify things a bit from random "Christmas things" that are usually out to less toys, less things, and just less in general, and although most things stayed relatively the same, it did seem to help my brain a little more this year... So, without further ado, here's our very imperfect, but cozy Christmas this year!! I hope you are sipping on a warm drink and feel just as welcomed as if you were here in person!!
Welcome to just our very favorite place!!
This year's little welcoming crew...
And last years....sheesh, time flies...
Come on in!!
In the daytime, things are bright and cozy...
But at nighttime is where the true magic of cozy comes to life...
The playroom is always a favorite for me...
This nativity scene was gifted to us when Jane was a baby, and it is our MOST loved and used Christmas item for sure. It is precious, and I love that it is so kid-friendly! It has held up to many a kids in our home the past several years! And it's made by a sweet sister of a friend I used to teach with! A Christmas favorite for sure!
We opted for books this year in lieu of toys on these shelves, and my have they gotten some good use...
My favorite scene!!
The kitchen stayed relatively the same...
But above we added these precious little verses from Emily Lex, and I have loved them!!
Our kitchen had our classic Reindeer Farm...
With a few added crafts this year!!
A little Christmas cheer sprinkled throughout!
And speaking of Christmas cheer...
The kids have Christmas sheets this year, and they have been such a fun favorite!!
Sign me up for anything little and fun that makes the season so special and sweet!!
Our little wooden snowman was back this year...
And this time of year is a favorite for the piano to be played in our house...
Take me back to those precious little fingers from last year!!
Speaking of last year, this little music box that I found at Christmas Village will just forever be a Christmas favorite. It reminded of Jane and Andy the moment I saw it, and this year with Andy's love for dogs, it makes us all smile even more!
Lots of music played in the house this time of year...
Including this "dancing Santa" that dances to Jingle Bell Rock on repeat hahaha a sweet friend let Jane borrow it last year, and it was the first thing Jane asked me about when I was getting our Christmas things out, so sweet Ms. Emily brought it over again this season for the kids to enjoy, and my have they! Let's just say they have been keeping him quite busy these days hahaha
But goodness, a lot of life lived this time of year in this little home...
But it's really this little crew that makes it all so special and fun this time of year, and I am so thankful!!
Just a little Riddick Home for the Holidays for your Wednesday!!
A favorite time of year over here for sure!!
