Friends, I am just popping in to say that we are here, we are safe and warm! Thanks for everyone checking in on us... Nashville got hit VERY hard with ice this weekend, and we were very fortunate to only have damage to our fence and power line out front, but goodness, it's been a hard weekend for our city.
I adore a snow day more than most, but this ice storm was a different kind of feeling for us... Our power went out around 6am Sunday morning and our home temperature went from 70º to 42º by the following morning... We watched many, many trees and tree limbs snap under the weight of the ice, and the sound was like popcorn in the forest next door.
We tried to keep it as fun as we could for the kids, but as they were wearing their snowsuits, ski coats and hats and still so cold, we realized we didn't think we could do another night in our home. So we started packing up, tested out the ice on our hill in our neighborhood, and prayed for a safe trip to my parents' house. We made it last night before the sun set and are thankful for a warm home more than ever.
Thankfully, our neighborhood now has power hopefully for good, but goodness, there are still so many without power, and with freezing temperatures and lots of wind and trees weighed down heavily with ice, we are just praying for safety of everyone affected and everyone working hard to restore power too. The days following this will be a lot for Nashville, and I'm not even sure we quite know yet the devastation that this storm brought, but we were deeply moved by watching our community, church, and neighborhood come together this weekend.
I will most likely be out for the rest of this week, but will be back on when I can to share more and document the small snapshots that even a weekend like this has held...
Sending lots of love and prayers today, especially for those affected by this storm!
Thanks for being with us❤️

Glad you guys made it out and that your power is already back! We lost ours at 5 am on Sunday and there is no sign that we will get it back anytime soon (we're in Crieve Hall). We escaped to a friend's house in West Nashville but it's crazy that we're preparing for our third night here!!
