Well, Arthur Dickson passed away on April 20th, but we get to celebrate his life this week, and goodness, we are grateful for him and for the life he lived and the Savior he loved.
Holding six-week old little Jane and his first great grandchild will always be one of my very favorite pictures and memories. ❤️
But there are so many more... From them driving down to Pierce's grad school graduation (with a homemade certificate in hand!)
To visiting them in the dating years with Logan and Jessy...
To them celebrating us at our engagement! ...and then driving 10 hours to be at our Destin wedding just a few months later!
To many many cups of tea, card games, and visits at their house. When Pierce and I started dating, we couldn't believe that his grandfather (remarried to sweet Connie almost 40 years ago) lived in Louisville. Pierce and all of his family pretty much lives/lived in Texas, so it was a true treat that we got to visit his grandfather whenever we were in town visiting my parents.
And then little Jane came along...
And we just loved that he got to love on her for so many years..
She loved playing cards and marbles and having crackers at their house...
And always enjoyed going to visit "Great Grandpa Dick."
And we were so glad that he got to meet sweet Andy Pierce as well!!
We will truly treasure those visits with both sweet kiddos getting to know their Great Grandpa.
I loved watching Pierce get to love on his grandfather the past nine years as well... They had a sweet bond, and I loved getting to have a front row seat to that...
And love that I acquired one too...
We sure are thankful for all of those sweet visits and the lessons we learned from Dick and Connie. He came to know the Lord later in life, and my are we thankful he did because his love for Jesus shone through so clearly and from the countless neighbors, friends, small group members, and church friends that we have gotten to meet over the years, it's clear that everyone saw it in him too.
And to his last days, he was proclaiming Jesus and said time and time again just how grateful he was. To know Him and that He had answered his prayers that his children (and grandchildren) came to know Him as well. ❤️ It's quite possible Pierce's immediate family know Jesus right now because of Grandpa Dick and Connie's prayers for them, and for that, we are just eternally grateful.
Grandpa Dick, we love you and miss you and sure are grateful for you. And are so thankful we get to celebrate your life this week!
I'll be back tomorrow with a little birthday post for Andy as we are prayerfully walking the balance of two different celebrations this weekend, and then I'm going to take a few days off just to be with family, but thank you for all of your kind words, messages, and prayers. It's been a different kind of spring, but one that we are thankful for in different ways as well. ❤️
I'll plan to see you back here tomorrow!
Sending lots of love!
