Happy Wednesday!! Today I thought I would jump on board the blog link-up about things we are making more time for. Everyone knows with kids, there's not a whole lot of "extra time," but time and seasons have a funny way of always making you think there will be "more time" in the next season...and so far, I have found that not to be the case hahaha So, today, I sat down and brainstormed just a few things that I've been trying to "make" time for more even in this busy season with littles...
1. Early mornings.
I am a girl who loves sleep through and through, but also sees the delight and fun of early mornings. I love an early morning workout, I love to drink hot tea, I love to journal and read my Bible, and just enjoy the morning light, the birds chirping, the quietness and stillness before the world "wakes up." But... anyone with littles, especially little littles, knows, it's not easy in the mornings, especially after sleepless nights. But we're in a season over here with a little less sleepless rhythms, and I'm trying hard to make the most of those precious and sweet early mornings.
2. Card games.
I love card games. Always have and probably always will. It's one of the things that Pierce and I used to do together at camp/the Forge long before we were dating or married. Throughout the seasons, time to just sit down and play a card game obviously has looked different and changed a whole lot. But recently, we've been carving out time to do it again, and I love it so much. Give us a group of friends or a family visit, and I'm almost positive we are pulling out a card game (or board game) of some sort...we are those friends hahaha
3. Videoing.
In January, I talked about how one of my goals was to video more, and I posted a "Life Lately in Film," and it's one of our very favorite things to go back and watch. The kids just change SO fast, and I want to make time to remember to capture a few of their milestones and also just daily little things that change so fast, but make us all smile in the present as well.
4. Serving.
Whether in our church, in our home, or simply with friends, I have felt that I have more capacity in this specific season that I have in the past, and I have definitely wanted to press into that. It's easier to see need and try to meet it when you've lived through seasons of other people doing that for you and your family, and it's a blessing to pray through what that looks like in this current season for us.
5. Home projects.
This is something that just brings me a lot of joy. I love creating and designing and making a space feel clean and cozy and welcoming, and I love the creativity it takes to do that with limitations on space or budget or ability oftentimes. From interning with a home staging company when we were first married, to adding three board and batten walls, removing popcorn ceiling in our living room (quite the adventure hahaha), to turning a closet into an office or a storage/guest room into Jane's room, we have had our fair share of projects, and I just truly love it all. Pierce and I have been brainstorming what house projects we have on the horizon, and we've talked about just about everything, but I'm excited to hopefully start tackling a few soon...
6. Reading.
As much as I wishhhhh we could go back to this being what reading looks like for us...
...it's more often this hahaha I wouldn't trade it for the world, but my how far we've come since summer 2021 hahaha
Pierce and I still love to read though. And we read a lot of books for sure to Jane and Andy, but it's always the best when we make time to just read for fun. I've read a ton of books this year, but all my friends laugh because I pretty much stay in my same little genre, but goodness, it's a happy one where I am living currently hahaha Sign me up for all of Denise Hunter, Courtney Walsh, and recently Valerie M. Bodden's Hope Springs series. What other authors/books/series that just feel like simple summer?! Hahhaa We are making time for all the reading over here...
7. Walking.
And lastly, this is one that comes to mind. I love walking. I always have and since Jane was a baby, I think I have over 850 miles walked tracked on my Runkeeper app (200 of those are blogged about here.) But it's one of those things that I really feel like I do have to "make time for." When we have a goal that we're working toward or are in a routine, it makes it simple, but when our days and schedules and calendars start to fill up, I always have to try to get back to the basics a bit and get some miles in. I just love it, and I think the kids have come to love it too. From being newborns in a carseat to Jane biking alongside me now...it's all just special, and I love every one of those miles walked!!
And those are just a few of the things that come to mind today...I'm sure there are more, but I'd love to hear what you're making more time for too!!! Thanks Shay and Erika for the fun blog link-up today!! If you want to read other Let's Looks, you can find them here.
As always, here's to enjoying the little things, celebrating the big things, and soaking in all the moments in-between!! Thanks for following along!
Sending lots of love!
