What's Saving My Life...

Happy Tuesday!!! I hope everyone is having a great week! Today I thought I'd do a little post from a favorite podcast I love to listen to. The Lazy Genius does an episode on "What's Saving My Life" once a quarter, and I always love hearing her list, so today, I sat down and wrote ten things that came to mind for "what's saving my life" in this season...

So without further-ado and in no particular order, here are a few of them!

1. Jane and Andy sleeping in the same room.

Well, this is just a favorite and it has truly been saving my/our lives it feels like because it has just been a win-win-win. At our beach house, there was only one room for the kids, and we weren't sure how it would work or how we'd split up bedtime/nap time, but Andy was OVER the moon excited about having his bed in "Jean's room" as he'd call it hahaha And the first night, they talked and laughed and then both fell asleep (after some prompting) and then woke up talking and laughing and continued every night of our trip. It was truly the sweetest thing ever to see.
So when we got back home, they begged for us to put Andy's pack-n-play in Jane's room, and honestly, the rest is history. It's still very much a "girl's room," simply with a pack-n-play, so you know my head is spinning on how to change up the decor/design now, but it's been life saving truly. One room. One bedtime routine. They keep each other company. They sleep. They feel safe and cozy I think with the other so close. It's been a huge blessing for our family the past month for sure!

2. My Brumate cup.

I mentioned the kids' new water bottles in my Amazon Lately post, but Pierce and the kids gifted me a new cup for my birthday, and I have been loving it! I love that there is no plastic straw, I love that it can lock if needed, I love that there is a silicone bottom, and I love the color! It's just been a favorite to carry and to use already this summer. And if you know me, you know I'm pretty much never without a water cu 🤦🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️ It's a quirk for sure, but I bet their could be worse? Hahaha The new cup has been a favorite for sure though.

3. Roasted Dandelion Tea Iced in the afternoon.

Ok, this one sounds strange I know... And honestly, it may be, BUT I have been loving Roasted Dandelion Tea for quite some time now. I shared this picture last year, but I love to steep it covered for about 10 minutes, and then add collagen, honey, and a little cream, and it's the perfect little recipe to enjoy while I read my Bible. But recently, I haven't been able to finish it every morning, so I've been sticking it in the refrigerator and at some point in the afternoon either put it in a mason jar with a few ice cubes or in a yeti as I'm running around and it is the simplest little afternoon treat. Again, sounds strange, but it's delicious and makes my afternoons just feel a little more summery drinking something iced!

4. The kids’ new helmets.

This one has really been a game changer with riding bikes and scooters for us. My parents gifted them amazing helmets along with their birthday gifts this year, and we have been LOVING them. They are just awesome and so EASY to get on and off. They tighten, they stay on straight, I feel like they really protect their head/face, and we have just loved them! An easy win for sure!!
And apparently they are a big enough hit to wear them at breakfast hahaha

5. Marble Jars.

Well, I had heard about using little marble jars as a reward system for kiddos, and a little while ago, I grabbed some marbles, two little jars I had, and put them in a drawer that the kids could reach. And now, when we see them being kind, obedient, quick to do or listen or notice, we'll tell them to go get a marble, and so far, it's been so fun for them, and a win for us! They love working to fill their jar, and we love catching them in those moments!

6. A new workout routine with Pierce.

Well, this is one has definitely been saving my/our lives and just so fun. Pierce and I have been working out together since before we were married and have always loved it. It's gone through many, many different seasons, but on the way back from the beach, we used his little work AI to come up with a 4-week "couples workout plan" with strength training and HIIT, and we have been loving it. Just something to get us up and moving in the morning and our garage has never seen so much action in the mornings hahaha A fun new little rhythm for sure right now.

7. Smoothies for Lunch.

People who know us and know our obsession with our Ninja Creami I think still laugh because we always talk about how that truly "saves us" at lunchtime. We love smoothies, and we've gotten into a habit of making a little extra, pouring it into the Ninja Creami cups, and then, boom, we have two "smoothie bowls" ready to go for the next day. The kids love them, we love them, we can add as much fruit/protein/add-ins as we need in the smoothies or the smoothie bowls, and they're just a simple way to get lunch started. We will usually add something else for the kids to eat alongside, or we'll have a salad as well or instead of some days, but goodness, smoothies and smoothie bowls for lunch are just a fave, especially in the summer!!

8. Arc Donation Pick-Up.

Well, this one is 100% saving my life. It's a company in Tennessee where you can donate used clothes, books, toys, etc and the proceeds from the company benefit people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families. But they will come to your house and pick up the donations from your porch, which, just is amazing hahaha So, we love scheduling our pick-up and leaving our box on our porch. It saves it from being in my car for many months hahaha and we love that it helps such a sweet cause as well!!

9. Popsicle Bags.

These things are amazing. The kids love them, they are SO easy to fill up, and I love that I can put fun electrolytes (or coconut water or really anything) in them and they feel like they're having fun summer popsicles like our neighborhood hahaha

10. Sunshine.

Well, this one is simple, but it really is "saving my life." I LOVE being outside, and I love the sunshine. And with kids, I just feel like sometimes the best place to be is outside, so we have been LOVING the sunshine. It is starting to get pretty hot and pretty humid, but I wouldn't trade the sunny days for anything!!

And there you have it...just ten things that are saving my life right now in this season. What are some of yours?! I would LOVE to hear!!! I'm going to start trying to write them down as I think of them/run into things so maybe I can do them each quarter as well! Thanks as always for following along!! Hope everyone has the very best Tuesday!!

Sending lots of love!
