Life Lately [3.2.21]

One of my favorite parts of blogs I read is simply hearing about their life via pictures and small snapshots. So I thought I'd do that here and update you just a little on our life lately. There's always so much going on around here, but these are just a few highlights from the last few weeks!

Pierce had a session this past weekend, so we packed up and basically moved into the studio for the weekend. I took my laptop and just worked away on our Blog while Pierce killed it recording.
I love watching Pierce do what he does best. Watching him not only lead but also get to use his musical gifts is such a fun treat for me!

A huge part of our life lately was the 2021 Snow Storm.....

When the snowstorm hit, we were in Dallas visiting Pierce's mom for her birthday and to have one last dinner in their childhood home before they sold it...

We saw the storm coming on the radar, but by the time we realized it was coming earlier than expected, our flights were canceled and there was not a single rental car at the airport. It was a crazy whiplash back and forth from flying, to driving, to not being able to drive, to maybe being able to leave in the morning, to being stuck in Dallas for four days... but we were so thankful to be with family and to have power and water.

We made the most of it, settled in to Dallas and enjoyed our unexpected Valentine's Day with some hot tea, Hallmark, and the cozy fire.

We spent the next days having fun in the snow, walking to get a milkshake, working on a puzzle, and enjoying the sunshine and crazy scene of Dallas covered in snow!

Pierce got to say goodbye to his house covered in snow!

We knew our window to get home was Tuesday, right after the first storm came to an end and right before the next storm was getting ready to hit. Our flight Tuesday morning ended up being canceled, so we made it to an Enterprise, and they had a 4W Jeep Wrangler available.

We drove this car from Dallas, TX to Nashville, TN and were so thankful for the perfect car to get us home.

Pierce did an INCREDIBLE job driving us home. The highways were pretty clear, but he stayed vigilant on the road.

This Tennessee sign was a blessing to see!

We were so relieved and glad to make it back to the airport to switch out our Jeep with Pierce's truck. We couldn't believe we had made it!

And then this sight.....our home! After a 12-hour trek, there was truly nothing better than being home safely with so much snow making it a Winter Wonderland.

This may have been the best sight though... getting to sleep in our own bed.

Since then, we enjoyed the next week of snow and made the most of the week off.

And the last week and a half, we have been back in our routine... Working out, making lunches, teaching kiddos, analyzing data, and throw in a little hosting and making music and you have a pretty typical week in the Riddick house.

It's been so crazy to hear about all of the different ways this snow storm affected the country, from the most fun week to an extremely difficult time. We are praying for all of the families still recovering from this week, especially our friends in Texas. We also loved seeing all of the smiles and fun in the snow and hope we have more snow days in our future!

A few pictures and snapshots from the last few weeks...we hope it's sweet to have a little update on our life lately.
We'll post again soon!
Love y'all!
