Wow, goodness, this post is truly just to give glory to the Lord for His timing. We have been praying for a family car for many months now, and as most everyone knows, it's a harder time to try to find a car, especially an affordable used car. My silver Volvo that I've had since high school has been the biggest blessing to us, but with almost 250,000 miles and a few too many quirks to feel the best about welcoming a baby in it, we were on the search. We had test driven a few throughout the past few months, but they just haven't been the car that we needed.
Pierce came across a 2016 Volvo XC90 in Memphis, TN a few days before my school's Winter Break in February.
So we packed up and headed to Memphis for the weekend, thinking if the car didn't work out we could just enjoy a trip out of Nashville for a few days.
When we got there to test drive the car, we started feeling the best we had felt so far about a car.
We loved the way it drove, how it was the most affordable one we had found, and Pierce was even getting used to the color also... We felt like it really could be the car that would help our family start to grow, so we took the night to pray and think on it.
We ate at a local BBQ shop, The Commissary, which was amazing and found a hotel for the night.
Then had lunch at City Silo the next day...and talked and prayed over the decision that was to come.
We enjoyed the sunny weather and just being out of town for a bit before we went back to test-drive the car one last time.
The more we drove it, the better we felt about it, and we decided to officially call it The Riddick Family Car a few hours later.
Three weeks after signing for our house, we found ourselves sitting in yet again another office signing what felt like a million papers to make the car our own. We'll never forget all the details that went into that weekend, before, during and after, to really feel like it was just where the Lord had been leading.
Headed home with a new Volvo key in hand and both of us feeling so at peace and excited for the Lord's provision in such a HUGE way. We pray this little car blesses our family for years to come, and we pray that we always remember the path that led us to this weekend in Memphis, lest we forget his provision and answer to so many prayers. Thank you, Lord, for the gift of this car.
