Life Lately 3.26.22 [While We Wait...]

Happy March 26th!! This is the day that we've been counting down till, praying for, and waiting for it to come as we anxiously and mainly prayerfully await the arrival of our little one. Since today is the official due date, I wanted to post a few updates on here for our friends and family and also just for us to have to look back on before this sweet new season that we are entering soon. So, this post is just a little bit of everything the past few weeks/months with some links to read more if you want to know more details about any of our recent adventures. And of course, we will keep you updated on when our biggest adventure to date arrives!! 💕💙
The past few weeks have been full to the brim all with things that have just about made our heart burst. The Lord has given and provided so many blessing to us that oftentimes I just wake up with Rend Collective's "Counting Every Blessing" song just on repeat in my mind. I will try to capture just a few of those blessings on here, including this amazingly sweet shower that our dear friends threw for us. ❤️
You can read more about all of the showering of Baby Riddick HERE, but this one was so sweet with so many dear friends and family that came in to celebrate.
And such a special thanks to our friend Abby for hosting and making the day so special!
And to my mom for whipping up truly the best and most thoughtful gift of a handmade quilt. It meant the world and we can't wait for our little one to cuddle up with it!
These two double-upped on showers, with hosting the sweetest school shower and then coming two days later to celebrate again...I am so grateful for Erika and Courtney!
And as always, just so grateful to have this guy by my side the whole time.
So much more Shower sweetness HERE, but these eight little ones also hosted such a sweet and special afternoon to celebrate our little one! We were so grateful!!!
The most precious memories!
And amidst the craziness of showers and preparing for our little one, I got the experience of taking these littles to the movie theater, which was definitely one for the books!
We continued our early morning routine as long as we could and loved our Camp Gladiator mornings, especially when they were accompanied by Chick-fil-A on some Friday mornings!
Always followed by me getting ready for the day at school...you can read about our crazy Mondays in this Day in the Life post...I hope I never forget the craziness of those days and the blessing of a sweet routine.
And just when we couldn't feel any more blessed, these two threw the sweetest school shower. They went above and beyond to bless and celebrate this little family of almost three, and we are so grateful!!!
A quick little 6am Valentine's Day pic before school (and shoes...)😉💕
Then Pierce made us an amazing homemade meal that night and we celebrated at our little kitchen table.
Followed by some amazing homemade chocolate fondue. 🫕
And a comfy day at school with one of my favorite Valentine's gift from a sweet mom at school xoxo💕
For our February winter break, Pierce and I took a trip to Memphis to follow a lead on a car that we have been praying for for over a year now.
You can read about the weekend and all that the Lord has done to answer this prayer HERE, but we still can't get over the blessing of our New Family Car. It truly feels like the Lord completely answered our prayers with all of the unknowns, and we just couldn't be more grateful.
What a wild journey! We are just so excited to have another Volvo in our mix...hoping it lasts us for many years to come!
A few quick snapshots to remember the sweet shower weekend...We felt so thankful to have so many people come from far and wide to celebrate this little baby.
The sweetest aftermath from the weekend of showers...never have been grateful to have a room such a crazy mess.
And all the while just soaking up every last bit of time with this one...
And grateful for our many selfies he appeases me with 😉
I've continued tutoring after school, which I still love helping my students understand math (even on dress-up days with braids in my hair ha!)
And we celebrated the last day at a school that has meant the world to me. Pierce snapped the first picture on my way out the door August 5th, 2019 and again on the last day, March 10th, 2022. How transformative and amazing these three years have been for me, and I cannot even begin to put into words the blessing that it has been for me to teach there and the bittersweet feeling as we enter into a new season. You can read more about the transition HERE.
Snapped this on my way to the car that day...just such a perfect reminder. ❤️
Pierce celebrated the last day so well with picking me up with a note and a snack and took us out to dinner, which is such a fun memory!
And followed by a little dessert at one of our favorites 🍦
We spent some fun Spring days in Kentucky soaking up a bit of sunshine and the Whitacre Gardens without a little one running around yet...
And of course his (slash our) favorite pit-stop on the way back to Nashville
Pierce installed our carseat...
And set up our stroller that came a few days ago...
We've loved our last few Sundays going to church and enjoying the springtime air afterward.
And our time just snuggled and reading and watching on weekend nights.
We are excited about the season to come, but boy have we loved the past three and a half years of this one ❤️❤️❤️
This has pretty much been my outfit on repeat as I've done about a gazillion errands and to-do lists around town and around the house...my nine months go-to outfit 😂
We had our last small group appetizer/game night to celebrate the Lord's faithfulness the past two years of meeting to study God's Word together and the next few months of a new host-home while we adjust to early parenting life.
Pierce has truly been an AMAZING help in putting this sweet little room together...we could not be more grateful for this space and have loved every minute, every prayer and every sweet memory that we've been making in this small piece of heaven. You can read more about our sweet nursery set-up HERE, but we are so grateful for all of the many blessings that have helped bring this room together!
Contrary to what it looks like, we are not having twins 😂  ...we are simply taking last minute votes on boy or girl!! 💕💙
We've been taking evening neighborhood walks preparing for labor and enjoying the springtime weather...this has been a favorite memory for us for sure...
Little One, we cannot even wait to meet you! We are ready for you!
