Well, this summer has been full of trips to "Nana and Papa's house" in Louisville, and I thought today I would put together a few favorite snapshots from our time up there.
My parents bought a very run down and trash-filled ten acres when I was about three years old and over the next twenty-five years have worked to make it a true slice of heaven. There are waterfalls, trails, a beautiful home that they built when I was eight, a pool they put in when I was in high school, five acres next door that they bought years later and have created with an incredible garden that grows more vegetables than we can count, and a million and one memories, including maybe one of my favorite places in the world - their simple and beautiful front porch (where Pierce proposed over six years ago now!!)
Being up there is truly a retreat for all of us, but Jane truly jumps with giddy excitement when we tell her we are headed up there! It's been so sweet to watch her love for "Nana and Papa's house" grow over the last few years.
She's truly been going up there since she was just a few weeks old!!
And now Baby Andy is the one asleep on the porch swing, and she is loving her afternoons right alongside!! My parents love these two littles (and me and Pierce too!) so well while we're there.
I have SO many snapshots of Jane just living her best life with her "Papa." Dad saw two little girls at the park call their grandad "Papaw," and he loved it so much that he wanted that to be his name, but Jane still says Papa 99% of the time, so we'll give it some time to maybe switch over soon. ☺️ But from feeding the kitty cats...
To waiting for the grill to be done...
To sitting on the front porch in the morning drinking tea and coffee...
And painting right alongside him and Nana... To riding her bike, jumping on the trampoline, swinging in her swing, looking at the waterfalls, and her newest favorite of swimming in the pool, this little girl sure sleeps well at night!!!
And we love being right there watching her grow and play and explore!
When we went up for Memorial Day weekend, she reallyyy starting loving the water. She loved jumping into Daddy's arms...
And playing and jumping in the middle...
For July 4th, she was jumping off the stairs and "spinning" in the water...
Her little eyes as big as saucers and her smile SO big and wide the whole time she is jumping and kicking and "swimming."
I can't tell you how proud of I have been of this sweet little girl this summer! I will just always remember this little summer of her being two...
Nana even made her her own little "big girl room" upstairs, and Jane was SO excited to sleep in her cozy bed at Nana and Papa's...(filled with the original Pottery Barn Teen sheets and pillowcases from my middle school days. 😉) How is she getting so big so quickly?! This is true moment to frame in my mind, and I'm trying hard to soak it all in!!
Meanwhile Little Andy is starting to love it up there just the same...he has been having the BEST time with Nana and started smiling and laughing so much for her...
We even got him in the pool one evening, and he loved it!!
Just floated right alongside his sister and was so content to just watch and soak it all in!
Sweet little one has already started loving how cozy and quaint and fun it can be at Nana and Papa's house.
And quickly learned the beauty of a summertime porch swing nap...
To Papa and afternoon naps... Just this week during dinner, Jane said, "I love Nana and Papa's house." It was so sweet, and it made me thankful that Jane and Andy get to experience the special place that has been such a sweet part of my childhood and now theirs as we go to visit. We're so grateful for all the fun and all the memories we have from this summer!!
Thanks for following along in this little journey of ours!! It's a full one these days...but we are trying hard to soak it all in!!
I'll plan to see you back here on Thursday!!
