Frame This Moment - Jane's First Game.

Happy Thursday!! And Frame This Moment Day!!! It's been a sweet, calm, and *very cold* week over here at the Riddick house!!! We've been loving our little slower January over here and love the wintery days, but are so thankful for the days the sun is shining too so we can get out and play for a while!! Today's moment was just one too sweet not to share and "frame" from one night this week...
It's no surprise that Pierce and I love games - we both grew up playing games, and we love game nights, board games, card games, new games, friends that come over and play games, holidays where we get to play games with family, you name it - we love it. So you better believe that when I came across a game that was "perfect for a 2 1/2 year old," I knew we had to get it for Jane for Christmas! Pierce was skeptical that there could really be a game out there Jane could grasp how to play right now, sit long enough to play, and enjoy it with us, but I think we found it, and we all love it!
Through the all the craziness of Christmas, I had saved this for her to "open and play" maybe a little later in the season, and we had introduced it when we got back from all of our traveling, but one cozy night this past week, we had cauliflower pizza, turned the fire on, and played "her game."
And this. right here, will probably forever bring a smile to my face. Boy do I wish I had captured her whole little face, but that smile and this moment will forever be a favorite. She had so much fun playing, and even though we were tired from the day, we had so much fun soaking up a little time with our girl. I'm so thankful for this sweet and simple January night, and it truly is a moment in time I want to stop and frame in my mind and memories of this little 2 1/2 year old loving our "pizza and a game" night. May there be many more in our future!!

And there you have it... just a little moment to frame for our week!! Thanks as always for sharing yours!! And if you're on the lookout for a toddler game - this one sure is a sweet and simple one. It's called First Orchard and everyone is on a "team" against the raven. It's been perfect to introduce all the "game" vocabulary. And of course I'd love any and all suggestions on littles' favorite games that might be on the horizon for us!! Or family games that you're loving too!! Maybe I'll have to do a post at some point on a few of our favorites as well. Thanks as always for following along! And I'll plan on seeing you back here next week!! Here's to enjoying the little things, celebrating the big things, and soaking in all the moments in-between!!

Sending lots of blessings!

  1. Missing your posts this week already, but THAT SMILE! How fun!!!

Break the ice is an immediate favorite at my house (maybe a little loud and annoying lol!) but Emilia still picks it to this day! Of course, Candyland, Guess who, Crazy 8's, Zingo, we have a simple "Bingo" game that you roll the dice and mark off that number (easy for those littler kiddos!) Memory/Matching games are always a favorite of hers. We recently taught her how to play SORRY! and that's a little long, but we always love getting to do that an evening after we get Graham to bed :) Have you and Pierce ever played Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza? That is a newer one to us, but we love it! Also, our ultimate favorite is Rummikub! Ha! We are clearly also a game family :)

And ok these are so great!!! I love that you guys are a game family too!! Goodness, all of those classics!! Yes! So good to be reminded of, and we can't wait to introduce some to Jane the next few years!! And ok, we've never played that one, but I've heard lots about it!! We love Rummikub for sure!! And we just got "Overlap" for Christmas - it's a simple, but fun little card game that's easy for two (or our whole family) to play! It's been a fun little addition too! Keep the recs coming for sure :)
