Frame This Moment - Homemade Playdough

Oh, happy Thursday! This past weekend we had Pierce's brother and sister-in-law and their two littles stay with us for Valentine's weekend, and it sure was a sweet one!!! I'll post more about it next week, but we've just been taking the week to reset, play a lot, and enjoy the fun surprise snow that came this week! Today's sweet Frame This Moment came from a little moment during one of Andy's morning naps this week...
It may seem crazy, but even after being a teacher for five years and spending three of those years in a junior kindergarten classroom, it took me two and a half years to introduce "playdough" in our home... We used it all the time in the classroom, but I just know all that comes with playdough - from the cleanup to the carpet (so much playdough on classroom rugs...hahaha) to the drying out to the mixing colors to also all the positives too and the hours of fun it can provide and the insanely beneficial help for fine motor skills...but needless-to-say, we hadn't had it around yet...

...Until a sweet teacher friend gave Jane a little jar of it for Christmas with a kit to build a snowman, which somehow got put away until a few days ago and let me tell you, this girl took. to. it. She LOVED it... And thus...our playdough journey has now begun ๐Ÿ˜‚

And I will say, I'm way more on board than I thought I would be... One morning this week we woke up to a winter wonderland but freezing temperatures, so while we waited for it to warm up a little, Jane and I got out all the ingredients and tried our hand at a little homemade playdough. I don't have any food coloring around here that I love, so we started out with just simple "white" as she calls it, and I just love this little snapshot from that morning. Jane in her little Valentine's Day pajamas my mom gifted her, magnatiles on the floor, pipe cleaners, q-tips, buttons and dice just to make it a little more fun, and just simply sitting with little Jane watching her imagination and love for all things creative shine and come to life... It's these little moments that make me thankful for slowing down. It's easy to rush past these little "mundane" moments, but how much sweeter when I sit down for a second (putting away my to-dos and laundry and dishes and texts and lists) and feel my hands and fingers become a little sore from molding playdough balls while listening to her sweet little voice chat about everything on her little mind and heart... I loved this tiny moment in time so much, and I know one day I'll be wishing we had lots more "playdough" back in our home... ๐Ÿ˜‰

So, we will be over here loving this sensory play, figuring out how we can make colored playdough one day, and finding all the little things in the house that can go along with this little fun hobby. And there's just a simple little moment for your Thursday. Are you a playdough home?! Do you have any tips, advice, wisdom, favorites?! I always love hearing from you, and I love seeing your Frame This Moments too!! Thanks for sharing, and thanks as always for following along. Here's to enjoying the little things, celebrating the big things, and soaking in all the moments in-between!

I'll plan to see you back here next week!!
Sending lots of love!
