Frame This Moment - Italy Lights in the Backyard

Happy, happy Thursday!!! And Frame This Moment Day!! Today's little moment is a snapshot of a finished project in our backyard... 

 

Pierce and I stood outside a few nights ago just thanking the Lord for this little space and reminiscing on all the life and seasons and change this little backyard has gone through... When we moved in in 2018, we were babies and just married, had about $10 to our name and just couldn't believe we were getting to graciously rent a HOUSE with a backyard. 

We had been gifted a strand of Italy lights for our wedding, so we quickly hung them up on our patio and just LOVED that little scene... And my has this backyard seen a lot... I'll do a post on it one day, but it was overgrown, bushes that had turned to trees, overtaken garden boxes covered in just too much shade, and lots of vines, weeds, leaves and more. But we loved it and were always so thankful that we got to live a lot of life out here, from small group to grill outs and family in town. 

Fast forward to 2022 when we were graciously able to buy this home and then had Jane a few months later... We were so thankful my sweet dad who LOVES working outside on their land back home and started helping us slowly but surely clean up our backyard and create something super special for the season we were in. 

And as we sat on these two swings looking into a house filled with balloons and birthday banners and sleeping children, we were just so thankful. The Italy lights just made it feel like "home." (Even after what felt like "an Amazing Race challenge" to put them up 😉 Our code phrase any time anything is proving to be challenging while we're doing it hahaha). But we really are so thankful for all the life that gets to be lived inside that home and this backyard. We love the song "Bigger Houses," and every time I listen I'm just reminded of being so THANKFUL for life inside of a home. There will always be more, better, bigger, newer, and a million things that we might change if we could, but how being thankful just changes the perspective. And thankful we are. For this home, for this backyard, for a little project that makes a big difference, and for a big project that has felt so right for our season. 

So Italy lights, we are so glad you are here! Thanks for helping make this little house a home!! 

Just a little Frame This Moment that I wanted to remember. There is something about being outside after the sun goes down in the summer...I just love it.
