Awww HAPPY JULY!!! I just LOVE the start of a new month. And July is definitely a favorite over here!! April, May, and June are filled with lots of celebrations, all of our birthdays, and this year a lot of transition and travel mixed it too, but July is just SUMMER to me, and we can't wait!! I thought it would be fun to finish out these three months with the final birthday blogpost of a favorite little celebration that happened over the weekend. We dedicated little Andy at church on Sunday and then hosted a little grill-out to celebrate that sweet occasion, his birthday, his first year of life, and the precious little bundle of joy that he is!
I had found a cute beach ball invitation, and we loved getting to make it come to life in our little kitchen nook... This little bay window has had a lot of pink in it the past three years, so getting to see some blue was a sweet little change!!
It just felt right celebrating this little one!! We tried to keep things simple and blew up some beach balls, ordered a few balloons, found the cutest little birthday banner from such a sweet shop, and made a little cake for him.
My sister of course made these amazing cookies - always the star of the show, and we just LOVE them!! What a special Aunt Audrey treat that we all love!!!
I had printed out a few pics of his year, and we displayed a few and left the rest on the desk... It was really sweet getting to flip through and see how much he has GROWN and all that this year has held!
These are just my FAVORITE little things to make every year too. It's so sweet just to have a few favorites in one spot. I am a picture girl through and through, and it has truly always been a favorite pastime to walk down memory lane through pictures, but goodness, now that we have kids, even more so!!!
We love you, Andy!! And we all love when we get to snap a picture with his smiley self!!
We set out some chips and fruit to go with the burgers...
And we got to break out our "little" cake stand again for a sweet 1st birthday cake! I made a "healthy" little banana bread cake for his actual birthday, but I made the very best vanilla cake recipe for his party, and it's just a fan favorite.
I love making the little cakes in these small glass pyrex dishes, but I had some extra batter so baked it in a regular cake pan and these little "cake bites" came to us as we were wondering what to do with the extra. It was perfect, and as my sister said, "The best way to eat cake in the summer!" Hahaha
I also dusted off my sourdough starters this past week after about a year of my capacity of taking care of things mainly going to Jane and Andy and not my starters hahaha and I knew I had to try my hand at some homemade buns! They weren't perfect, but it was definitely fun to make them and have them with Pierce's amazing burgers!! I'll definitely be adding them to our summer favorites though for sure!!
And our sweet neighbors let us borrow their little bounce house again, which is just always a hit.
But mainly, it was just SO fun to celebrate this little one!
He is happy and smiley and just FUN to be around.
He was just delighted...
And we weren't sure how he would do with everyone singing...
But he just smiled his way through it all!!! Sweet, sweet buddy!!! We love you!!!
He continued taking his few steps...
And just played hard!!!
What a fun day to celebrate you, Andy!!!
We sure love you!!!
And loved this sweet, sweet day! Thanks to all of our friends, neighbors and family that made this birthday so special! We can't believe it's been a year!!!
And thanks as always for following along and celebrating as well!! If you want to see Jane's little celebrations you can read about her "Sweet One" Birthday Party, her "Tea for Two" Birthday Party, and her "Color Me Three" Party as well. As always, here's to enjoying the little things, *celebrating the big things,* and soaking in all the moments in-between!!! ❤️
I'll plan to see you back here tomorrow!!
Sending lots of love!!!
