The Riddick Family Blog: Friday Favorites [7.22.22]

Happy Friday!!! I truly cannot believe next week is the last week of July...it has flown by. We are headed up to Louisville this weekend to celebrate my mom's birthday a week early, so that means lots of sweet hands holding Jane, many fresh garden salads and afternoons by the pool...we love it up there so much. But today I have a few of our Friday Favorites today...including a way to save on gas!! 👏 Hope you enjoy!!

My first favorite is mornings out here on our little screened in porch...I'll have to do a Riddick Home post on it soon, but we just love it out here. Especially since it's been so hot in the afternoons, it's nice to sit out here in the mornings with a little fan going and enjoy a quiet start to the day.

Another favorite are these little protein/snack bars from Simple Mills...they're made with nuts and seeds and are so good if you're looking for a little healthy snack!

Sweet Jane at church...how could this not be a favorite. We've tried her sleeping in the wrap most mornings, but this Sunday morning, she just wanted to be in her daddy's arms. She was so content the whole time...so sweet!!

So close to one of my July goals of walking 40 miles...have about a week to get to the finish! They really have been my favorite this week...especially with sweet friends!

This one is a sweet one because we used to do a date night every Thursday night...whether we did something fun or curled up and watched a movie at home, we tried to always make it a fun and intentional night... But since Jane and with both sets of parents out of town, it's made it a little harder to do any nights out. Pierce surprised me though last week and texted a sweet family friend and set up the night for Jane to stay there for a few hours. So I pulled out a favorite black romper that I hadn't worn in quite a while, and we loved dinner and a late night walk with Jeni's. So fun!! And so thoughtful of Pierce! Looking forward to many more to come.

Frozen Kombuca....yum!! I didn't even know this existed, but I stopped by our favorite place one afternoon and ordered their house kombucha that they make, and they asked if I wanted it frozen....enter my new favorite summer afternoon treat. It tastes like a slushy, but with a little less strong kombucha flavor...highly recommend if you ever come across it! (You can find many different flavors at Herban Market in Nashville!)

This next one is definitely Pierce's favorite of the week. He has worked so hard (and efficiently) to help us save money on gas, and it's honestly impressive. I should have had him be a guest writer on here, but if you're interested in saving money on gas and you have a Kroger near by - the best way to do it is buy gift cards that you'll use on something else and you'll rack up 4x fuel points...meaning, that if you buy a $100 Amazon gift card at Kroger, you'll get forty cents off a gallon, $500 gift card, $2.00 off...etc. It's amazing. We have mainly done just Amazon and Visa gift cards, but my dad is famous for getting Lowe's ones when he's working on a home project and some people we know get Chick-fil-A, Starbucks, Target, etc and just use them throughout the month. Just a fun little tidbit incase it may help to bless you and your family too!!

And last but not least...I am loving my sweet afternoons recently. It's been such a fun blessing to work on this sweet blog while Jane naps...I hope it's a blessing to everyone who reads and for us when we look back on it later too.
