A Night Away in Nashville

Happy Tuesday!! Today I thought it'd be fun to share a little about our fun Friday and Saturday this past weekend. This past spring, Pierce's company gifted him a steak dinner and night stay at The Thompson Hotel for working so hard on a project he had been in charge of. We were so thankful and excited to put it on the calendar, and June 23rd was the night that worked best!
Sweet Aunt Audrey volunteered to watch Jane (Read - have the time of their lives Friday night 😂 Jane will literally throw her hands up and run around like she just won the lottery when Audrey shows up hahaha), which was such a blessing to us!! We packed our bags, set Audrey up with all she needed, and made our way down to The Thompson Hotel.
We had the corner suite with windows looking over downtown Nashville - it was such a nice and fun room and so different than anything we would have booked ourselves!
Away for the night with no bedtime routine needing to happen 😂
Fun floor and similar theme in the bathroom too!
We changed and got ready...
And headed to the top floor where they have a rooftop looking over the city.
Stole this from online, but the tree in the center was so fun and different, especially at the same height as the skyline!
It was the perfect night weather wise!
Pierce had taken us to a similar rooftop in Dallas when we first started dating, so we were loving the flashback from seven years earlier!!
We had a few minutes before our reservation, so we ran into the Turnip Truck to grab a few snacks (Pierce jokes this is all we need to do to make it feel like a "vacation" to me. I used to say that my favorite part of family vacations was the rental car that everyone was in...it's the simple things, right?! Hahhaa 😂) We had eaten lunch there the day before I left for Destin the week of our wedding, so it was fun being back for a few minutes. It's a fun farm-to-table place if you're ever in Nashville and looking for a fun place to grab some food!!
We were on our way to dinner and walked across the street to 404 Kitchen.
We had never been before, but the food was great. We sat outside, right next to Italy lights and greenery and overlooking the city. It was a perfect night weather wise to eat outside! This salad was amazing...
As was Pierce's steak...
And our bowl of fries 😂 (We have been doing no grains, sugars or starchy vegetables this month, so this was definitely a treat!!)
As was our dessert! A pecan and caramel cookie baked in an iron skillet! We walked around the city for a bit and since it was exactly two years since...
Our night in Cacnun writing out so many prayers for our family...
We had to take some time to thank the Lord for all that He's done the past two years!! We couldn't believe that June 23rd had been that night!
The next morning, we were up and at'em and made our way down to...
This sweet little place. We had gone to Milk and Honey on a weekend trip to Chattanooga a few years ago and loved it. They had the best London Fog and biscuits, and since we were in walking distance that morning here in Nashville, we knew we had to revisit that sweet place.
Saturday in the summer in Nashville is a perfect day for lots of tourists, so we grabbed our coffee and tea to go...
...and found a sweet little place to drink our drinks...
And finish our weekend out with breakfast sandwiches and biscuits and gravy (my absolute favorite splurge ever 😂 )
That Saturday morning was such a fun one - there's always something special about being able to wake up and walk to get your coffee, tea and breakfast that makes it truly feel like "vacation."
On the way back to our hotel, we had to stop at our favorite Flower Truck, Amelia's. Pierce brought me these flowers the first time I ever flew into Nashville when we were dating long distance, so it's always bene a special little stop.
I grabbed some sunflowers for Audrey to say thank you (And a little bouquet of white daisies for our home - my very favorite flower!!)
And before we knew it, we were back in the car headed back home to little Jane!!

It was such a fun night away and fun to explore your own city a little bit too! We are so grateful for the gift it was from Pierce's company and for all of his hard work this past spring - what a fun way to celebrate!! And so thankful to Audrey to for all she did to help make it happen!!

And that's just a little look at our Nashville weekend! A sweet one for sure!! I'll plan on seeing you back here tomorrow!!!

Blessings,
Tab

  1. How fun! Looks like a pretty cool hotel - I'm always intrigued when I hear people talk about the Gaylord and the Restoration hotel in Nashville! I'd love to go to Nashville one day!

    1. Yes!! The Gaylord Opryland is so beautiful at Christmas time!!! And you should also look at The Union Station - we've never stayed, but it used to be a train station in downtown Nashville, and it's so beautiful too!!! I hope you come one day!!!! 😍
