Let's Look...How We Do Everyday Cleaning

Happy Wednesday!! Here we are in the middle of the week, and I thought it'd be fun to pop into another Blog Link-Up this month..."How We Do Everyday Cleaning..."

I've blogged two other Let's Look posts...about Bathroom Organization and How We Stay Healthy.
But today, I'm mainly excited to read everyone else's posts because I feel like we are always looking for new ways to help keep our day-to-day life cleaned and picked-up. As I was thinking about our normal routines, I thought I'd break it down into things we do almost everyday and then a few things we do pretty often, and things I wish we did more often...*insert cleaning our bathrooms* haha!

So...without further-ado, here are a few of our cleaning habits these days!

Things We Do Almost Everyday:
1. Clean the counters
One could say I might be a little too into cleaning the counters, but for some reason, the kitchen really just doesn't feel clean without clean counters. Recently, I finally invested in some Branch Basics, and have really just been loving using it on a daily basis.
I've come to really like their brand and we've been using their spray and their hand-soap for a few months now! (Their Oxygen Boost has also gotten every stain of Jane's clothes that I've run into so far!!)

2. Make our bed
We pretty much make our bed every morning, and it is such a game changer for making things feel clean and tidy, especially at the end of a long day!

3. Use our Dyson
During this year's Amazon Prime Days, we finally used some money we had saved to invest in an older version of this handheld Dyson that was on sale, and what a game. changer. it has been for us!! We LOVE our Rainbow Vacuum that I got on Marketplace, but boy how easy is this little guy to pull out and do a quick little clean! I think we've used it every day since we got it. Can't recommend it enough!!
Even Jane was loving it one afternoon haha!

4. Straighten up downstairs at the end of the day
And last but not least, I like to just do a quick straighten up before I go upstairs for the night. I don't know how long that season will be able to last, but I love waking up to a semi-straighten downstairs. I feel like it helps my mind to be more at ease in the morning as we start our day, read our Bibles, and drink our tea and coffee!

Things We Do Pretty Often:
These things don't make the every day list, but they're definitely regulars around here...

1. Clean out the fridge
Now, I LOVE a good fridge clean-out πŸ˜‚ And I'm not quite sure why, but I think I love knowing that when I come home from the grocery store, my fridge will be ready for whatever is about to go in it. I snapped this one day when I had taken everything out for a real clean, but usually, I just wipe off each shelf as I put new things on it, and it helps for it to never become too overwhelming to know what we have/what's good/ etc.

2. Clean out the cars
As crazy as it sounds, I think one of my simple joys is bringing everything in from the car when we get home. For some reason, it just feels good to know I'm setting us up for success the next time we leave to go somewhere big or small.

3. Have a Goodwill pile
We almost always have a little Goodwill pile in our closet that fills up with small things throughout the weeks and months. Whenever we come across something that we know would bless someone else more than us, we try to add it to the Goodwill pile and take it once it gets pretty full...I feel like it really helps us to have a place we know we can put things that we don't need anymore!!

Things I Wish We Did MORE Often:
And lastly, things I wish I was a little better at.....

1. Cleaning our bathrooms
Well, this one isn't my strong suit...but I'm finally trying to get into a routine and do a few daily things, like wiping the counters down each morning and night so it never gets very out of hand.
Because this...is my normal mindset hahaha

2. Change our sheets
I am a sucker for good clean sheets, and I always wish I did it more. Do you do it once a week? Every other week? Every Friday? I need to get a system that would make this easier...

3. Deep clean/ Vacuum with the Rainbow
Deep cleaning...sigh. I love it and don't love all at the same time hahaha We have our Rainbow Vacuum, which is amazing and really does clean the floors and house SO well, but it's a lot, and we don't use it nearly as often as we should.
Apparently nine months pregnant felt like the perfect time though πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‚

4. Organizing our closets/donate clothes
And I feel like this would really help feel like we are keeping our house clean, but we also don't do it nearly as much as we should...I think it might be my goal coming up soon...especially with a growing little girl now...I need a system quickly to keep up with all of her outfits.

And well, that about sums up everyday cleaning at our house...along with some honesty and goals on my end for things I wish we did more!!
I will just leave you with this...when we first got married, I had this small broom that I used all the time, and Pierce would always give me the hardest time about WHY it was so short πŸ˜‚ Snapped this one time as he was trying to prove his point...hahaha Four years later, we upgraded to a Dyson hahahah

Hope it great getting a little peek into our cleaning over here...I'm looking forward to hearing about all of your tricks and tips to help us!!
And even with all of our everyday cleaning....somehow, this is still my life bahahha Thanks Shay and Erika for the fun blog link-up!!

See you back here tomorrow!!

  1. Ok…#1 the bathroom meme πŸ˜‚ … just remember flylady’s rule: swish and swipe every day - takes 10 seconds, and your bathroom will always be clean enough in case the queen stops by for a visit. ☺️
#2 somewhat related to #1…the visit meme πŸ˜‚ …so true. We all know it. I become the ‘white tornado’ the last hour before company. ☺️ (..old commercial for some cleaning product that unleashes a white tornado that whizzes through your house cleaning up everything in seconds while you stand by in amazement πŸ«’πŸ˜„)
#3 picture of Pierce πŸ˜… so funny poor guy. Nice trick on your part to get a neat new little vacuum πŸ˜‰☺️❤️
#4 the refrigerator… I think I would feel lost and a little scared if I ever saw my refrigerator that empty 😳😨🀯. πŸ˜‰
#5 You’re really quite amazing, to keep your house so clean and neat and organized…you’re doing much better than I ever did with the housekeeping. Vacuuming with the baby watching?…yeah, do that. That way, you won’t have your 3-year-old walk out and see the vacuum in the middle of the floor and ask “What’s THAT thing?!! πŸ˜‚πŸ€£πŸ˜‚
    #6 Love you ~ Mom ❤️😊☺️πŸ’•

    1. Hahahhaha thanks MomπŸ˜‚ Thanks for reading first of all (when I started I figured you would probably be my only readerπŸ˜‰) But this is all hilarious...I learned all of my great cleaning tips from you! Along with the great whirlwind when company comes over haha! Love you!!!

  2. okay, your next splurge needs to be a black friday roomba! Doesn't have to be name brand BY ANY MEANS, but it is literally life changing. We have 2, that run both upstairs and downstairs daily. I have a 4 year old and an 80lb hairy dog. Between the crumbs of food, playdoh, misc and the dog hair - that thing has changed my LIFE and the way I clean. Every single day the roomba is filled up with stuff and i don't have to see any of it laying on the floor - and it only runs for about an hour while we're at work. I definitely recommend adding to your cleaning list!

  3. When my boys were little I kept an open tote in their closet and anything they had outgrown went right in there as soon as it came out of the wash instead of putting it in their drawers. Then when it was full I'd label the size clothing inside and either save it for the next kid or pass it on to other family/friends with slightly younger/smaller kids.
