2023 in Review

Well, I had all intentions of posting this little one earlier in the year, but I thought the end of February would a sweet time to reflect on all that 2023 held... This is my third year recapping our year, and they have become some of my very favorite posts...

We had a big year this year with little Jane turning one, our first full year as parents, and the ending the year with a second on the way. We had so many trips, adventures, time spent with family, and many, many simple and sweet days at home. It was a fun year to document here on the blog, but so sweet too to take a look back on a few favorite memories throughout each month. We are very thankful to the Lord for his many blessings and grateful for so many of you following along as well!! I hope you settle in with a cup of tea on this Tuesday morning as we take a little look back on the Riddicks' 2023!

Ok, here we go in 2023... 

JANUARY 

We started the year off cozied up on the cold days in Nashville with just nine month old little Jane!!

Pierce had such a fun music performance in January, and it was fun getting back to our roots!!

We soaked in lots of mornings reading the Bible and drinking our tea and coffee...especially in this sweet study that later really became more of Jane's playroom in this new season. 

Lots of grocery store runs with this little one!!

And Jane was having so much fun with lots of solids while we were loving our January cleanse too!!

FEBURARY 

February came filled with all the pink and red, and we loved every minute of it!!

Jane took her first tiny little step that morning she turned 10 months old!!

We loved watching this girl come to love all of her many berries!!

And one of the sweetest "Frame this Moments" came with Jane's first little craft from her nursery morning at church!! You can read more about that here. 

We loved this sweet month and all the celebrating it always calls for! 

MARCH 

March was filled with lunches with Daddy at his work!

And the SWEETEST moment of Jane taking her first of many, many steps coming that year. This one still just fills my heart with so much joy!!! You can read a little more about it here. 

We had lots of small group Monday nights!!

And Jane got her first official little pair of tennis shoes as she was starting to take on walking like the best of them. I still just adore these little shoes so, so much!!!

We had lots of simple days at home....

But perhaps our favorite of March was such an amazing trip to BELIZE with Pierce's family as we embarked on a sailing adventure with seven and two babies! You can read all about our sweet week here. 

Goodness, take me back to that wide open ocean!!! 

We loved it so much!!!!!!!

APRIL 

April was JUST as sweet as we celebrated little JANE turning ONE!!!!!

My goodness...I loved it all so much!!! You can read more about her actual birthday here and her sweet little first birthday party here. 

What a gift it was to celebrate all that the Lord did in one short year!!!

The days of Jane and her baby doll started on her birthday, and I couldn't love them more!!!

I loved soaking in all the sweet moments of April with this little one!!

We hosted a sweet Baby Shower at our house for one of our small group girls...

We also ended that sweet and fun, busy month of April with Jane's dedication at church. You can read a little bit more about it here. 

MAY 

May brought with it another fun groupings of celebrations - including both of our birthdays!!! 

We love having birthdays a few days a part, and it's always fun getting to celebrate together. 

We had lots of sweet siblings in town, which made it all the more fun!!

And lots of friends over to celebrate one afternoon our 29th and 30th!!

So thankful for this sweet family from church that has blessed us so much!!!

And a bestie from my freshman year of college too and her sweet family!!!

We loved celebrating Mother's Day with Logan, Jessy and Lucy!! 

And Pierce did such an amazing job with a little Mother's Day craft that is still so special!!

We had lots of spring-time date nights, which we loved!!!

And Jane helped us with a little house project at the end of the month!

Pierce helped me nail some board and batten boards before he left for a work trip, and then I had such a fun time redoing our study/playroom!!

JUNE

June came with more dinners out!!

And Saturday morning Farmer Market runs!! 

Lots of simple and fun days at home... 

And Pierce and I even got to get a little vacation away in Nashville for a night!!

I love those sunny, June days!!!

And our little kitchen tower joined our home for Father's Day and has been the best part of our time in the kitchen!!

JULY

July was filled with lots and lots of evening runs with this little one in the stroller. 

We loved catching up on the day and getting some exercise and fresh air at the park all summer!

We took a little trip to DC mid-July to celebrate Jane's sweet cousin Lucy turning one!!

It was fun to have Pierce's whole family together again!

Lots of travel for this family of three, but I wouldn't have wanted to do it with anyone else! 

This little one soaked up her last month in her baby carseat... 

And Pierce and I loved a night out at the ball field!!

We ended the month celebrating Nana's birthday!!

Jane sure does love her grandparents!!! 

It was definitely a summer for the books with this little cutie. 

AUGUST

August was filled with a few more family runs before our 5k! 

And Jane got a new carseat!! 

How did she get so big so fast!! 

We started in on our Sourdough journey... 

And have loved every minute of it!!! 

Even little Jane has loved it 😂 

We got to complete a 2023 family goal of running a 5k together!

We had lots of summer nights with our small group! 

And Jessy and Lucy got to visit for a week in August, which we loved so much!!

These girls are the sweetest!!! 

And the end of August held another sweet Baby Shower for a sweet friend in our small group!! 

SEPTEMBER

September came with lots of time in the sunshine... 

We spent Labor Day in Louisville, and Jane was loving her time with Aunt Audrey!! You can read a little bit more about our weekend here. 

And September also came with our family beach trip to Florida, which we have come to so look forward to!! You can read about our sweet week at the beach here. 

We love that Jane is coming to love the beach too!! 

She could have stayed here forever I think... 

I pray she always loves the ocean!!! 

September started a new family rhythm of me teaching a Women's Discipleship Group on Tuesday nights through our church... 

I have come to love those nights and these women so much, and Pierce and Jane love their night together every week as well!! 

OCTOBER

October was a BIG month and ALWAYS one of our favorites!!!

We got to spend the first of the month in one of our favorite places with Pierce's family - Jackson, Wyoming. You can read a little bit more about our time out there here. 

We loved all the time we got with these friends throughout the year!! 

We soaked in all the fall fun around Nashville!!

And many sweet days at home with this growing girl!!!

How did she already turn 18 months this month?!

Lots of simple days at home...

And neighborhood walks too... (All still with her little Baby!!)

And LOVED our annual trip to Jackson's Orchard!! You can read a little bit more about that day here. 

How much BIGGER she was just ONE year later!!!

I still can't get over that...

Pierce and I got to sneak away for a little five year anniversary trip to Vermont at the end of the month!!!

We truly had the BEST time away and Jane LOVED being with her Nana and Papa - I'm not sure who had the most fun out of the five of us!! You can read a little bit more about our trip here. 

And then we ended the month with a little Ratatouille as a family. ☺️ 

The BEST way to end the sweetest month!!!

NOVEMBER

We soaked in as many fall days as we could when November rolled around!!!

And LOVED getting outside on sunny warm days!!!

We took our annual trip to Christmas Village to kick off all things Christmas!!!

We went from one to five for a weekend, and it was the sweetest!!! 

Lots of lunches out with Daddy!

We LOVED Thanksgiving up in Louisville with my family. 

And Jane LOVED getting to see her sweet cousin Lucy in Texas too!!

Goodness, these girls just always make me smile!!!

And Pierce and I had the BEST time racing in their family's Amazing Race at their ranch outside of San Antonio. Hopefully this will help us actually get on the show one day!!! 

The end of November, we were snuggled up again waiting for all the sweetness of DECEMBER!!!

DECEMBER

The beginning of December kicked off with traveling again, but this time to NEW YORK for a weekend full of all the best things!!!

We loved being in New York with some of our very favorites!!!

Goodness, this trip will ALWAYS just be one of our very, very favorites!!! You can read a little bit more about that sweet week here. 

It was the perfect way to kick off the holidays!!!

We had our small group Christmas party with lots of fun Minute-to-Win-It games!!

Pierce and I got to sneak away for such a fun Christmas date night!

And even a little day-date to soak in one last NFL football game over Christmas break... 

We spent lots and lots of time cozied up in this living room right here... 

And we loved getting to spend Christmas in Louisville!

Goodness...how much change happens in just one short year!!!

We just really loved getting to end the year with this sweet family of three...

But perhaps the sweetest blessing of 2023 was celebrating the life of this little one too!!! 

Goodness, 2023, you were full to the brim with the Lord's many blessings and my heart just is filled with joy looking back through these snapshots and moments. Thanks so much for following along in this journey! This little blog is such a blessing to me, and this past year was such a fun one to keep documented through many, many blog posts. What a gift to be able to share in even the smallest, simplest of moments! I pray your 2023 was full of evidences of God's grace as well and your 2024 is off to wonderful start!!! 

What a gift to be able to celebrate the many different seasons that come with a calendar year and the many seasons that the Lord takes us through as well... Here's to always enjoying the little things, celebrating the big things, and soaking in all the moments in-between!!
